Camp Rainbow
Clarksville, TN
Camp Rainbow began with a dream. In 1983, Diane Miner and Mary Woodall envisioned an inclusive camp where children with serious illnesses and complex medical needs could experience the joy and adventure of overnight summer camp.
That dream became a reality with just 14 campers and has since grown into a cherished tradition, now welcoming approximately 40 campers each year for one memorable week.
Throughout the week, campers are surrounded by an extraordinary team of volunteers and supported 24 hours a day by a pediatric provider (MD, DO, NP, or PA), individually assigned nurses, staff members, and counselors. Each camper is paired with a dedicated counselor (or two, depending on their individual needs), providing an exceptional level of personalized care and attention. This unique combination of medical support and one-on-one care allows campers to experience the fun, freedom, and independence of summer camp while ensuring their individual medical needs are met.
There is never a shortage of adventure (or snacks!). From fishing, swimming, arts and crafts, and softball games to carnival rides, talent shows, dances, hot air balloon trips, Jeep crawls, and so much more, there is something for everyone. Whatever it takes, our team works together to make activities accessible so every camper has the opportunity to participate.
Camp Rainbow is entirely volunteer-run and provided free of charge to our campers. None of it would be possible without the countless volunteers, organizations, and community members who have supported Camp Rainbow throughout the years.
It all began with a dream shared by two women. Nearly 45 years later, that dream lives on!
